Broadacre

Broadacre growers occupy around 300 - 400 thousand hectares of productive land across New Zealand, around 3 - 5% of farmland. This might seem small however it is strategically important to the NZ economy and feeding kiwis. Kiwi broadacre farmers demonstrate high productivity compared to global averages.

But with the nutrient levels in our soils becoming more and more important, this industry is under threat. As stewards significant land mass, Arable farm owners have a unique responsibility to care for the soil in a way that preserves this vital resource for generations to come.

Since 2002, Hybrid Ag, Fusion Fertilisers business partners have worked along with many broadacre farmers across Australasia to support better use of fertilisers and above all, better economic and environmental results.

We formulate specific Nutrient Management plans, matching farm management styles, with an indepth analysis of the soils and crop types. This is an economical, no-compromise approach to soil fertility.

  • Testing the soil is the starting point. We use an independent soil testing service which provides comprehensive test data presented in a format that is very easy to read and understand. This test includes a number of parameters not included in other tests. If you already have recent tests from another laboratory, we can process these in our audit program and prepare a recommendation. Wherever possible we like to have more comprehensive data, as it gives the necessary detailed information which makes the analysis process far more accurate.

  • We then work with you to create a totally customised soil and plant nutrient program for the season ahead. This can be to address a specific problem or an ongoing program that will keep your soil healthy and provide optimum yield and profitability year to year.

  • Depending on requirement when doing paddock specific Soil Amelioration blends we manufacture a custom nutrient blend, which is determined from the results of the soil analysis, which can be mixed into a specifically designed carbon base, complemented with a unique combination of bacterial inoculants and microbial bio-stimulants that are designed to increase root system vigour and nutrient availability. At Planting we build Granular Nutrient Packs addressing key Nutrient requirements for the Crop and complementing these with Trace minerals and Carbon additives to maximise early season Nutrient Use Efficiency.

  • Using the best research and latest data available, we create a unique blend of Nutrient and Root Stimulants to ensure the best possible start for the seed. This is applied onto the seed prior to sowing to ensure a healthy early season root system as well as providing building blocks to help against abiotic stress and early onset of disease.

  • Using data from the Differential Leaf Sap Analysis (DSA) results in Step 5, we build targeted nutritional foliar and ground spread applications that support the production of high quality tillering and plant growth to maximise the yield potential.

  • Using data from the Differential Leaf Sap Analysis (DSA) results in Step 5, we build targeted nutritional foliar and fertigation applications that support the production of high quality bunches, fruit and colour development.

  • This step is the targeted application of specific Nutrients to the paddocks where we are planning to have seed retention for next season. This is designed to maximise plant health and store up reserves of nutrients in the seed bank for a powerful start to the following season
